Indian Maritime University (IMU) was established on 14th November 2008 as a teaching and affiliating university under the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, with Chennai as headquarters. It was set up to promote maritime studies, training, research and extension with focus on emerging areas like
oceanography, maritime history, maritime laws, maritime security, search and
rescue, transportation of dangerous cargo, environmental studies and other
related fields, and to achieve excellence in these areas.

There were 6 renowned legacy teaching-cum-research institutes under the Ministry of Shipping, and these were subsumed under the Indian Maritime University in November 2008.

The 3 institutes in Mumbai, namely, the Training Ship Chanakya T S CHANAKYA, the Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Advanced Maritime Studies & Research (LBS COLLEGE), and the Marine Engineering Research Institute (MERI) became the Mumbai campus of the Indian Maritime University

The 2 institutes in Kolkata, namely, the Marine Engineering Research Institute (MERI, KOLKATA) and the Indian Institute of Port Management (IIPM) became the Kolkata campus of the University. The National Ship Design and Research Centre (NSDRC) in Visakhapatnam and the National Maritime Academy in Chennai became the Visakhapatnam and Chennai campuses respectively of the University. November 2008, 3 new Campuses were set up – in Kochi in 2009, Kandla in 2011 and Karaikal in 2014. The University also has 36 Affiliated Institutes

IMU CET Application Form 2017–
Candidates can get the IMU CET 2017 application form through online process from the above given link. Application for UG and PG courses has been started from 25th Mach 2017. The last date of application form will be 8th May 2017. Candidates can apply for IMU CET 2017 after ensuring their eligibility for the programme they wish to apply.

Application Fee:

Candidates have to pay Rs. 1000/- and Rs. 700/- (SC/ST candidates) as an application fee. The fee will be submitted through online payment gateway.

IMUCET Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for IMU-PGDME:

Candidates must have obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering /Mechanical & Automation Engineering/Naval Architecture.
ITI aspirants with a graduation degree in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering from IMU are also eligible to apply.
The maximum age limit is 28 years on 1st January 2017.
Five year relaxation in age limit is given to reserved categories.

Eligibility for IMU CET:

Only unmarried candidates are eligible.
Candidates desirous admission in the university courses are advised to apply for Passport before taking admission.
Candidate minimum age is 17 years & maximum age is 25 years on or before 1st August 2017.
5 years age relaxation for reserved candidates.
Those candidates seek admission in marine courses are required to produce the medical fitness certificate by Doctors approved by Director General of Shipping.
Only those appearing candidates are eligible who appear for qualifying examination on or before 31st May 2017.
Age Criteria For IMU CET DNS Course:

Male Candidate (Gen/OBC-NCL) – DOB must fall between
02-02-1992 and 02-02-2000.
Female Candidate (Gen/OBC-NCL) – DOB must fall between
02-02-1990 and 02-02-2000.
Male & Female Candidate (SC/ST) – DOB must fall between
02-08-1987 and 02-08-2000.
Physical Fitness:

Candidates seeking admission in DNS course must be physically fit and should meet the medical requirements as specified by DGS guidelines. Candidates with Disability (DA) are not eligible for admission to marine courses. At the time of admission, candidates have to produce the certificate of medical fitness issued by concerned authorities.

Eye Sight:

Nautical Department(Deck Department):
a) Distance vision (unaided 1.0 *(6/6) in better eye and 0.67*(6/9)in
other eye;
b) Normal colour vision shall be tested by Ishihara test chart
Courses Eligibility
DNS Pass 10+2/ equivalent examination with PCM and English.(PCM: 60%).
ORB.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the year, with an average of not less than 50% of marks in the final year.OR
B.E/B.Tech. Degree from I.I.T or from a college recognized byAICTE with an average of not less than 50% of marks in the final year.
The candidates should have obtained 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th Std. or in the Degree course conducted by recognized Board or any University.
5% relaxation in eligibility marks for SC/ST category candidates.
B.Sc Pass 10+2/ equivalent examination (PCM: 60% & English: 50%).
5% relaxation in eligibility marks for SC/ST Candidate.

IMU CET 2017 Exam Pattern
There will be Common Online CET for all UG Programmes [except BBA (Logistics, Retailing and E-Commerce) programme], Online CET for Lateral Entry of DNS-passed students to 2nd Year of B.Sc (Nautical Science), Common Online CET for the MBA (Port and Shipping Management), MBA (International Transportation and Logistics) and the M.Sc (Commercial Shipping and Logistics) programmes and Common Online CET for M.Tech (Marine Technology and Management), M.Tech (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering) and M.Tech (Dredging and Harbour Engineering) programmes. The IMU CET will be held through online process on 27th May 2017. The duration of the entrance exam is three hours. There will be Multiple Choice Question will be asked. There will be no procedure of negative marking.

IMU CET Syllabus
The CET syllabus of UG Course will be based on the level of Class 12th (CBSE, ISE and State Boards). The syllabus of UG Course will come from the subjects Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, English, General Knowledge and Aptitude. The MBA course syllabus comprises of Quantitative ability, Verbal ability, Data interpretation and Logical reasoning. M.Tech Course syllabus consists of General Knowledge, English, Mathematics, Aptitude and General Engineering.

IMU CET Admit Card 2017
The IMU CET 2017 Admit Card will be provided through online mode. Candidates can download their admit card from the official website. The admit card for will be available from 12th May 2017. The university informs the registered candidates through SMS or email.

IMU CET Result 2017
The IMU CET 2017 Result will be declared for UG and PG courses on 30th May 2017. On the basis of the CET Score, candidates will be selected for the counselling procedure.

IMU CET 2017 Counselling
Shortlisted candidate register themselves for online counselling procedure. The online counselling registration will be started from the 2nd June to 16th June 2017. Through IMU CET 2017 counselling process, the seat will be allotted to the candidates. The counselling procedure will consist of document verification, physical fitness clearance, etc. The document will be verified from 10th to 16th July 2017.

How to Fill Application forms :-

  • Form will be filled online and candidates have to enter all the details there only.
    Link for filling form will be available at the imu portal. In the end
    candidates needs to enter the bank details.
  • After application form is complete, a printout needs to be taken and should be
    attached with documents (See Below). All documents needs to be put into an
    envelope and needs to be sent to Admission Cell,

1.Reserved category certificate like SC, ST etc
2.As an age proof attach high school passing certificate or whatever that has date of birth.
3.12th class passing certificate. Pursuing candidates needs to provide it during counseling.
4.Provisional degree in case candidate has passed graduation.
5.Other documents, if needed.
